In “Our long commute just gets longer; Chicago-area residents spend more time getting to and from work” (Aug. 30), the graphic suggests what is euphemistically described as “Mean Commute in Minutes.” The time from Arlington Heights to Chicago is identified as about 27.7 minutes.

I live in Arlington Heights and I work in the Loop. My commute is always a minimum of 90 minutes each way. Twenty-five to 35 minutes to the CTA Cumberland station. A few minutes to park and walk to the platform, then 35 to 45 minutes to the Loop. That’s about the meanest commute I can think of.
