'Tomorrowland': Joy sold separately

Everything that “The Lego Movie” got right goes wrong in “Tomorrowland.” Vapid search for one special young person to save the world? Check. Story about innovation without any visual pop? Check. Sense that the movie exists primarily to promote a brand? Absolutely. Maybe if Tomorrowland weren’t a section of the Magic Kingdom that many of us have visited multiple times, “Tomorrowland” would present a unique vision of exciting, futuristic technology. But the world on screen looks a lot like the real park, whose existence partly nullifies a movie effectively symbolized when a big, shiny ball crashes to the ground.
