For better or for worse, Chris Guerzo's ode to Central Lakeview will get stuck in your brain.
The "Central Lakeview Theme" that Guerzo--a producer whose studio is in the north side neighborhood--penned and sung for the Central Lakeview Merchants Association, got a video to go along with it on YouTube April 3. The tune is meant to encapsulate everything about the Wrigleyville-area in a couple of minutes, Guerzo said, and though it was originally supposed to sound like Michael Jackson's "Bad," the result was much more modern pop inspired.
"It was intended to be a jingle for Central Lakeview, really," he said, adding that the song has been around for about a year.
In a town that already has its fair-share of musical numbers that become earworms--Luna anyone?--Guerzo said he's happy his company Chris G. Productions produced something he says reflects the positive parts of the area. Karaoke mainstay Trader Todd's even asked Guerzo for a copy so it could be sung-along to by request.
"I'm a producer, it's what I do. I am kind of used to watching other people sing the songs I wrote," he said.
Gus Isacson, Executive Director for Central Lakeview Merchants Association, said another video might be on the way, this time showing what the neighborhood is like during the winter months.
"We've been surprised by how many hits it's had, how many views it's had," he said. ""It is catchy, it is corny, but that's what a jingle is."
