No more suits. No more trying to interpret body language during warm-ups. No more waiting.
On Wednesday, Derrick Rose was back, playing at the United Center for the first time since his knee injury in April 2012.
As far as the Bulls were concerned, Wednesday's game against Detroit was as much about fixing the rough edges as their point guard's triumphant return.
But for everyone else watching at the United Center or on TV, it was all about D-Rose.
Here are the Top 5 moments from his first game back in front of the home fans.
Benny the Bull does more than just work a crowd into a frenzy and throw popcorn at unspsecting fans. The mascot "helped" Rose put on his warmup gear before the team took the floor. And he knows better than to touch the knee.
Aaaaaaand now ...
"Froooooooooooom Chicago .... !" Hearing announcer Tommy Edwards say Rose's name for the Bulls' signature introductions is the equivalent of Jim Cornelison's national anthem renditions at Hawks games. It just feels right.
At your service
OK, so it's not ALL about Derrick Rose. early in the first quarter he delivered a sweet dish to Joakim Noah, leading to a pair of free throws. Teamwork!
We hear ya
"MVP!" "MVP!" The chants erupted in the second quarter while Rose was knocking down three free throws. Sweet music, right?
Late in the second quarter, Rose got knocked into the row of photographers ... and got right back up. You can stop holding your breath, Bulls fans.
If you turned away right before halftime, that's a shame. Because you missed Rose dribbling between his legs, juking his defender and banking home a shot while being fouled and falling to the floor. Ah, vintage D-Rose.
Follow his lead
Rose led the Bulls with 22 points in 22 minutes in the victory over the Pistons, and it looked like he was saving plenty for the regular season. That's bad news for the rest of the NBA.
