Quarterbacks Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and Russell Wilson were the darlings of the NFL as rookies and each put up great fantasy numbers. So, are these three duplicating last year's success or are they fantasy duds in Year 2?
Andrew Luck, Indianapolis
The words "sophomore slump" certainly don't apply to Luck. He's very solid and sometimes spectacular. The stats are good: seven touchdowns, 224 yards per game, three interceptions and a completion percentage of just under 62 percent. The real upside for Luck is how he is spreading the football around. As a rookie, Reggie Wayne was Luck's go to guy. This year he's still targeting Wayne but is also finding T.Y. Hilton and tight end Coby Fleener with regularity.
Robert Griffin III, Washington
Did anyone think RG3 would make a huge impact as a fantasy starter coming off ACL surgery? I certainly didn't. However, there are times when he's is amazing and other times I think he should be nowhere near the field. Some of the stats are impressive, some are not. On the positive side: 289 passing yards per game. On the not-so-hot side: five interceptions in five games. I believe RG3 could be an elite in a year so as he continues to heal and hopefully gets a better supporting cast at receiver and tight end. Don't give up on Griffin as a great fantasy quarterback, it's going to take some time for him to develop.
Russell Wilson, Seattle
Wilson is a modern-day Troy Aikman: wins lots of games but doesn't have gaudy statistics. He is averaging a respectable 209 passing yards per game and has thrown for an impressive eight scores with four interceptions. Wilson is a reliable fantasy backup who in time could be a regular fantasy starter. Wilson will get better once Percy Harvin is healthy and he has his full complement of receivers.
