The preseason is over and we can finally get down to the serious business of worrying. I'm only worried about Brandon Marshall right now. I feel like the diva in him took one year off and is ready to come back with a much stronger year.
Which is sad because that coincides with a much more "balanced" attack where Jay Cutler is supposed to "spread the wealth." Uh oh, the diva may not like it! Off he goes with an excused absence. We'll see.
The bright side is Cutler has some options.
But if you want to worry, here's a quick list to keep you up at night:
Two rookies on the offensive line. New head coach doesn't speak English, only Canadian.
New faces at tight end, rookie at linebacker, thin at defensive back, on and on it goes.
Here's a better idea. Take a week off from this crap and celebrate … the return of college football!
Yes! In a rematch of the 1949 Rose Bowl, Northwestern travels to meet Cal!
Saturday night, 9:30. It's just a tremendous evening for nerds everywhere.
I'm not a violent person, but I take great pride in knowing I could beat up a vast majority of the people who attend these schools. And so can you! Probably.
Anyway, thanks Pat Fitzgerald for restoring the roar around here. The good news is this: You're in the division (legends? Leaders? Laggards?) that doesn't have Ohio State!
Bad news: The Wildcats somehow scheduled Ohio State for homecoming. For many, that's a "tailgate only, no game" Saturday.
In my book, because it's the non-OSU division, you've got a shot/prayer of getting to the Big Ten championship game. Make us proud, fellas.
Make us as proud as we are of the Chicago Sky. Yes, these lovely ladies have notched their first playoff appearance ever! That only took eight years, but they are leading the WNBA's Eastern Conference.
I know nothing about this league, but this being Chicago, I think we know that if you make the playoffs (it does happen, apparently) you are doing something well.
All other teams: take note. That's how it's done.
