What would you do with the Stanley Cup?
It's a question every hockey player hopes to answer. The most coveted trophy in all sports is not only a breathtaking silver spectacle, but also a collective time capsule of champions. During the Blackhawks Convention this weekend at the Hilton Chicago, RedEye asked the Stanley Cup champs what they've enjoyed doing most with the cup, and for those who haven't had their day yet, what they're looking forward to doing with it.
"I think at the end of the day, just spending time with family and friends. Getting to see them with it again, I think that's the funnest part for me."
"I took it in a helicopter and flew all over Belleville [Ontario, his hometown] with it. I thought that was pretty cool. I had never been in one before, so it was a great experience for me."
"I know we're having a party, we're going to take it to my cousin's lake house and I think that will be a lot of fun [to] get it out there in the boats."
"I'm going to bring it fishing, I'm going to bring it on a fishing show, 'Facts of Fishing' up in Ontario with Dave Mercer, so I'm looking forward to that and just having a good day with it.
"I'm taking it to the Children's Hospital in St. Louis in the morning this next coming Wednesday. That'll be cool, to bring it there and let those kids experience a little bit of what I'm getting to experience. That'll be fun. And to see their reactions, I'm pretty excited about that.
"I think my favorite moment with the Cup is always right after we win. It's the same thing as 2010, on the ice. There's just so much going on it's very tough to try to let it soak in because it's happening so fast. But everything from the celebration on the ice with the guys the moments after, to the locker room, the plane ride home. ... There's something with those moments that really sinks in with you. They're photographs in your mind that you'll never forget. I think those are the real moments that stick out because after that it's a whirlwind and everybody kind of goes their own way."
