Thunder, lightning, three overtimes, late nights, I'm exhausted.
It this sounds like a typical week in my sexy nightlife, but please. A simple request. Let's wrap these up a little earlier please!
Seriously, I'm exhausted! Some of us have to work in the morning! I got yelled at for dozing off at my desk!
So thanks, Andrew Shaw, for the game winner. Next time, slap one in during regulation. In fact, note to all players: That's really what regulation is for. It's to decide the game. You should only use overtime as needed! Quit abusing the privilege!
Get your work done, and go home early. There are plenty of normal, hard-working folks who need to get up and raise their kids and go to work. I don't count myself among those, but come on!
Besides, 41-year-old Jaromir Jagr has to be back at the home by 11 p.m. every night. Wrap it up.
So we play again Saturday. Huge win, Game 1. Everybody happy, everybody wins. Old-time, Original Six Hockey. Plus I get to yell "Tuukka!" loudly, which I've always wanted in a non-war scenario.
Also, as we await Game 2, I do need to point out some "Only in Chicago" bizarreness.
For Cub fans, please note: The team has gotten so bad, the announcers have started talking about the minor league players and games.
Truly awful, but true. Note to Comcast and WGN: Maybe show those games instead? Also, only the Cubs' best prospect would be a shortstop when they just locked up their major league shortstop for seven years!
We're abysmal everywhere else but logjammed at one spot? I give up.
Also of note: The Cubs are actually paying their third baseman, Ian Stewart, like 2 million dollars a year to play minor league baseball. What a deal! All of the cash, none of the daily pressure!
By the way, the Cubs had a long home losing streak to the Reds. Longest since '76. 1876.
And we'll close with a Bears minicamp update: News flash: Spring (summer?) is in the air. Love is in the air. Everybody loves everybody again. Jay Cutler loves the new coaches; the offense is clicking, love, love and love.
Please remember this in November when no one's talking to each other.
