This Bulls-Heat Game 4 is gonna be legen- ...

"Hi Dad. [Pauses, looks at TV.] ESPN Classic?"

"Yeah. Today's the 10-year anniversary of the classic Four Man Bulls game. Your mother and I watched it with you in the crib."

"But I don't get it—'Four Man Bulls game?' "

"It was this crazy game where we played the Heat with four players. [Laughs.] Game 4 of their second-round series in 2013. They were already missing Derrick Rose, Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich with injuries."

"[Incredulously] Rose was injured?"

"I know, I know, but his consecutive-games streak started the next season."

"Crazy. Who else was out?"

"Let's see if I remember. Well first of all, Marco Belinelli burned both his hands that morning cooking eggs. He showed up in bandages that looked like medical oven mitts. And an hour before tipoff, David Stern suspended Nazr Mohammed because of his ejection in Game 3. And then Taj Gibson was ejected in the first quarter for 'glaring.' "

"Glaring?"

"Little-known rule. Carlos Boozer tried to defend him and got tossed too, so they played the first half with Marquis Teague, Nate Robinson, Jimmy Butler, Vladimir Radmanovic and Joakim Noah. Actually led by two at halftime."

"That Thibs was a helluva coach, huh?"

"One of the best. That team had heart, but terrible luck. In the third, LeBron James landed on Nate Robinson after a dunk and crushed him like an accordion. Nate went to the hospital on a 5-foot stretcher. On the next possession, Noah got his ponytail wrapped in the rim while blocking a shot. Ripped out a chunk of his scalp."

"Good god!"

"Uh huh. They opened the fourth with Teague, Butler, Radmanovic, Malcolm Thomas and Daequan Cook."

"Wow. And then?"

"If I remember correctly, Radmanovic slipped and landed on his head. Thibs grabbed a jersey so they wouldn't forfeit and spent the rest of the game barking out instructions while defending Chris Bosh. Not half bad, as I remember."

"[Stunned silence] Amazing. Did they win?"

"Grab a seat. I don't want to ruin it."
