More often than not, the playoffs bring out the best in players—and in fans. But on occasion, they also can bring out the worst.
There are a number of Bulls fans who fall into the latter category, who have been spewing hateful and vile things toward Derrick Rose lately via social media. These fans feel the Bulls could have won Game 1 of their playoff series against Brooklyn, and won by a bigger margin in Game 2 had Rose been in uniform.
While he may be in good shape physically, Rose is still trying to get himself ready mentally. Whatever the hurdles he's facing, it looks obvious on the court that the Bulls could use him.
This holds especially true when you consider the injuries that have afflicted the rest of the Bulls. As a result, Bulls fans have taken to social media and have voiced their angry and sometimes hateful opinions.
These vocal fanatics have called Rose everything from a "coward" to "weak," "loser" and "selfish." One tweet recently suggested he should "grow a pair."
A Peoria man recently took it a step further, filing a lawsuit against Rose claiming his absence has "caused mental breakdowns leading to obesity issues." The Peoria County filing also says "Rose has shown negligent behavior by not returning to the court this season."
Seriously? I have news for you, manic Bulls fans, all your negativity and foolishness will NOT put Rose back on the court anytime soon. If anything, your actions may keep him from returning to the lineup. Stop your childish behavior and let the man do what he needs to do to come back.
Your impatience, anger and sense of entitlement will not make things better or easier. So I suggest that you calm down and take it with a grain of salt like the rest of us.
Combined with the other issues the Bulls face, I'll be amazed if they make it past the first round. If Rose feels he'll be better off by waiting until next season, so be it.
