Even with the Bulls and Brooklyn playing Game 3 of their playoff series Thursday, we had football and on the brain. Maybe it's because the Bulls have been black and blue all season, or because Mel Kiper's hair helmet is unavoidable. Whatever the case, we turned our NFL Draft goggles toward Bulls-Nets, and here's what it looked like:
Downside: Carlos Boozer collects a foul and a double-dribble violation in the first minute. Who gets called for double dribble in the NBA?
Upside: A 30-second timeout gives one female fan a chance to bare her midriff and dance to AC/DC's "Shook Me All Night Long." The Luvabulls tryouts are thattaway …
Downside: Luol Deng fouls Deron Williams while shooting a 3. You've gotta know better than that, Luol.
Upside: The Bulls defense forces Williams to put up an airball. The fans are gonna have a field day with that one.
Downside: With 6:25 left in the first quarter, the Bulls found themselves down 17-5.
Upside: They didn't allow another point in the quarter. Boom. Defense.
Score: Bulls 19, Nets 17
Downside: Nazy Mohammed smacks Brooklyn's Andray Blatche on a drive, sending him to the free-throw line.
Upside: Blatche responds by elbowing Mohammed, drawing a technical foul on the Nets center. Way to get into his head, Nazr!
Upside: Taj Gibson takes a nifty pass from Nate Robinson and posterizes the Nets' Kris Humphries with a vicious dunk.
Downside: Might wanna ice your hand, Taj. Chances are you'll be dunking on Humphries again. And again. And again. And …
Upside: As great as Williams is, his passes sometimes surprise his Nets teammates—in a bad way. One turnover leads to a fast-break layup for Hinrich.
Downside: The Bulls might not like Williams when he's angry. Keep an eye on him in Game 4.
Score: Bulls 41, Nets 34
Upside: By early in the third quarter, Boozer already has a double-double, with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Downside: You just hope there aren't any loose gym bags lying around to derail his momentum.
