The Cubs have signed 29-year-old Jason Jaramillo to a minor league contract, with the possibility he could make the team in spring training as the backup to Geovany Soto.
The switch-hitter missed much of last season with an elbow injury, but has played for the Pirates as a backup. Last year’s backup, Koyie Hill, was not resigned by the Cubs.
