MILWAUKEE -- The games between the Midwest Division-rival Chicago Wolves and Milwaukee Admirals have been close this season featuring all one-goal games.
Sunday afternoon's contest was no different as the Wolves beat the Admirals 4-3 in a shootout at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
The Wolves (27-16-3-2) looked to be defeated early in the game as they faced deficits of 2-0 and 3-1, but rallied with three goals in the last 23 minutes to force the game to overtime.
Milwaukee (22-14-6-5) led from the beginning as left winger Miikka Salomaki scored 10:40 into the game, beating goaltender Jake Allen (20-11-2) by burying his own rebound.
The home team built on its lead less than a minute into the second frame with a deflection by right winger Patrick Cehlin for the 2-0 lead.
A shorthanded goal by forward Nathan Longpre at the end of the frame got the Wolves back into the game.
The Admirals answered back in the third period on a marker from left winger Kevin Henderson, whipping a low shot at 3:00 to regain the two-goal lead.
Less than a minute later, Wolves center Keith Aucoin was tripped up on a scoring chance and capitalized on the resulting penalty shot.
Defenseman Cade Fairchild finally found the equalizer for the Wolves as he tied the score 3-3 at 7:26 with a goal top-shelf.
Right winger Sebastian Wannstrom and center Adam Cracknell converted shootout attempts and Allen stonewalled all Admirals shooters in the extra session.
Allen finished with 24 saves. Admirals goaltender Marek Mazanec (9-4-3) stopped 31.
