"It’s baseball," Ventura said Tuesday. "When you lose, you can use a bunch of different words to describe it. 'You are outplayed because you didn’t win. Were you fatigued? Yeah, but so is everybody else. Did you choke? Yeah, you can say it in a way that if you don’t win you choke anyway.'
Ventura wasn't consumed with watching the postseason, although he did admit to watching a few games.
And after getting acclimated with his players last spring as a first-year manager, Ventura looks forward to an extra week of spring training thanks to the World Baseball Classic.
"When somebody goes down, you’re going by the word of somebody you haven’t seen that much," Ventura said of last season. "(Jose) Quintana was one of those, but we had some many guys who came up and contributed. It’s nice to take an extra look at some of those guys during the spring because you want to have a clear thought of what you’re getting or what you’re asking for when they’re called up."
