Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria turns 72 in one week.
Consider this mega-dump deal that went down Tuesday night an early birthday present to himself: $160 million in slashed payroll!
As far as most South Florida fans are concerned, it should also be the beginning of the end of Loria's 11-year run as Marlins owner.
No one cares to think about the sliding scale in the stadium deal that restricts Loria's ability to sell for another handful of years. If it's just a matter of sharing the profits with the city, well, there figures to be plenty of return on his $158 million investment.
Especially now that the Dodgers have sold for $2.1 billion.
