You can excuse UCLA receiver Devin Fuller for having a little paranoia.
UCLA, after all, has cornered the market on it in the Pac-12 over the years (perfected it, actually). It is the only athletic department built on a grassy knoll.
So when Fuller put a slick move on a New Mexico State defender and snagged a 21-yard touchdown pass from Brett Hundley on Saturday, his first thought wasn’t, "Hey, I scored!”
Said Fuller: “At first I was looking around to see if there were any penalties before I celebrated.”
Fuller had a 30-yard touchdown reception wiped out by a penalty against Nevada. This one counted.
“It felt good,” Fuller said. As to how he got so open, he said, “We called it a poco route. I move to the corner, then cut to the post ... "
Poco? Seems like a conflict of interest. Fuller's mother, Cindy Mizelle, is a singer on tour with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Poco hasn’t released a new album since 2002.
Fuller had four receptions for 48 yards as one of 16 UCLA players to catch at least one pass in a 59-13 rout.
