Megan Bozek of Buffalo Grove had a goal and Kendall Coyne of Palos Hills two assists as Team USA beat Canada 3-2 for the gold medal in the Women's Hockey World Championships Tuesday night in Ottawa.
It was the fifth title in 15 world championships for the United States, which has won four of the last five.
The United States had lost 3-2 in overtime to Canada in group play.
Coyne had four assists and a plus-5 in the the five U.S. games.
Russia, building for next year's home-ice Winter Olympics in Sochi, won the bronze 2-0 over Finland - just its second world medal ever and first since 2001. But the Russians had lost 8-1 to Canada in the semis.
