Torres zeroed in on a defenseless Seabrook, then drilled him in the head with his elbow or shoulder, take your pick. Torres’ hit was the same act that earned him a four-game suspension when he targeted the head of Edmonton’s Jordan Eberle. See for yourself. Here’s a video of Torres’ hit on Seabrook that also includes a clip of Torres’ stupidity against Eberle. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22825103/vp/42638654#42638654

But no. Nothing. A cheap shot to the head is now only a two-minute minor. Just when you thought the NHL had stepped up from acting like Mario Lemieux’s “garage league.’’ Just when you thought the buffoons and troglodytes had become extinct. Just when you thought the NHL was to be taken seriously.
Just when . . . nope, sorry, pffft.
Tell you what, the Hawks ought to respond to Torres’ cheap shot by running Roberto Luongo. Run him, then run him again. It doesn’t look as if that would be a penalty. Nobody knows what a penalty is these days.
What’s the NHL’s playoff slogan? Oh yeah: “Stupidity will be made.’’
This is worse, see, because it happened during the playoffs. Fewer teams, more at stake, a greater number of people watching, the better chance that damning video gets seen. Even for the NHL, this is stupid.
OK, people, listen up: Big red shoes and big red noses for everyone in Gary Bettman’s clown car.
