Dan McNeil has been a Chicago sportsradio mainstay for more than 25 years. His show, "The McNeil and Spiegel Show," airs on WSCR, the Score (AM-670) weekdays between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
McNeil, 50, was an original cast member and afternoon drive host at the Score between 1992 and 2000. He then became the driving force of "The Mac, Jurko and Harry Show," afternoons on WMVP (AM-1000), an ESPN affiliate. McNeil returned to the Score in June, 2009. He began his Chicago radio career as a producer at WGN (AM-720) in 1985 before joining "The Loop," (AM-1000 and FM-97.9) as a producer/reporter and weekend host.
A graduate of Ball State University, "Danny Mac" has been a columnist for the Hammond Times and the Chicago Sun-Times before joining the Tribune staff in December of 2009. His first book, "The Great Book of Chicago Sports Lists," was published in 2009.
McNeil has three sons, Van, 21, Patrick, 18, and Jack, 17. McNeil's charitable endeavors include several projects for the treatment of autism. Patrick McNeil has autism.
When he's not wearing headsets or writing for publication, McNeil's hobbies include golf, fishing, movies and classic rock.
