Why the Red Sox?
Maybe it is just a matter of random chance, but the thing that seemed to separate the Red Sox from the Orioles in the first two games of the series is the length of each at-bat. For the most part, those bloop hits and ground ball singles came after Red Sox hitters worked themselves into favorable counts and forced O's pitchers to throw the ball over the plate. The O's meanwhile, extended Lackey's evening by being impatient at the plate and getting themselves out on a lot of first and second pitches. They call that being aggressive. Opposing pitchers don't seem to mind.
