Donut Fest: 9 photos that prove the doughnut trend is alive and well in Chicago

If you’ve ever doubted Chicago’s inherent love of fried dough, photos from this weekend’s third annual Donut Fest will get you back on track in no time. We ventured out to Chop Shop’s 1st Ward on Sunday, where the event was held, to tackle the second and final session of the festival. From Longman & Eagle’s yuzu-saffron curd-stuffed doughnut hole with coriander powdered sugar to GBD Cakes and Sweets’ baked churro doughnut, we ate our way through the fest in just under an hour.

Stan’s Donuts and Indiana’s Chemshaw 13 Donutz and Comics took home crowd-favorite awards for their respective sessions, while Gurnee Donuts, located in Gurnee, Ill., won the judges’ choice trophy.

Check out our photos from the second session of Donut Fest to see every doughnut we sampled (and wonder how we didn’t slip into a food coma that prohibited us from returning to work today).
