The age-old battle between iPhone and Android rages on, and this time they’re coming for your inherent personality traits.

In a study conducted in the United Kingdom, 500 smartphone users were surveyed based on their smartphone preferences.

When it comes to iPhone users, those who prefer the Apple smartphone tended to be younger and were twice as likely to be women. They tended to be more extroverted and saw their phone as a status object and were less concerned with owning devices favored by most people.

Android users on the other hand were more likely to be older and skewed male, and also ascribed with being more honest and agreeable. They were also less interested in wealth and status than their iPhone counterparts.

“We demonstrate for the first time that an individual’s choice of smartphone operating system can provide powerful clues when it comes to predicting their personality and other characteristics,” wrote Dr. David Ellis of Lancaster University, the study’s leader.

So before you judge that person who always turns your group chat green, just know it runs deeper than just being late to the smartphone game and not knowing how Snapchat works. They really just don’t care what you think about their phone.
