Police have arrested the woman accused of stealing more than $17,000 in a West Loop apartment rental scam last year, according to authorities.
Sarah Michelle Sobieski, 42, of Arlington Heights, allegedly listed a foreclosed condo in the 1200 block of West Adams Street online last summer. On June 10, 2013, a 35-year-old suburban man wired her $17,580 from his bank to pay for the apartment, according to court records, but Sobieski never gave him access to the apartment.
She was arrested Monday evening in the 300 block of West Chicago Avenue by police officials who identified her as the woman wanted for the apartment scam, according to court records.
Sobieski was brought to the Cook County Criminal Courthouse Wednesday afternoon and released of her own recognizance on a $10,000 I-bond.
