The new trailer for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” which hits theaters on December 16, debuted on “Good Morning America” today and man, I couldn’t be more excited. It’s a darn near perfect trailer and hopefully, it will tide fans over until “Star Wars: Episode VIII” arrives in December 2017.

Directed by Gareth Edwards (“Godzilla”), the film follows Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), a member of the Rebel Alliance who’s tasked with leading a team to steal the plans for the Death Star. What’s revealed in the trailer is that her character’s dad Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen) was critical to building the big space weapon that is definitely no moon. Watch it below.

The trailer may quell some fans’ concerns about “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” There were reports that the movie had to undergo excessive reshoots this summer which were rumored to cost as much as $30 million. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jones didn’t seem too concerned: “Obviously when you come to the edit, you see the film come together and you think, ‘Actually, we could do this better, and this would make more sense if we did this,’ ” she said. “I’ve done it so many times. I mean, you wouldn’t just give your first draft on this story, would you?”

Yesterday, Edwards also revealed the character-heavy poster for the film, which looks pretty great and is available to view here.
