Chance the Rapper must be exhausted but you can hardly tell. The 23-year-old Chicagoan spent the weekend traveling, headlining northern Wisconsin’s Summer Set Music and Camping Festival on Friday and then late Saturday, he performed with Bon Iver and Francis and the Lights during Eaux Claires music festival. After all that, this morning, he made his daytime national TV debut on “Good Morning America.” It was more than worth waking up early for.

To promote his upcoming Magnificent Coloring World Tour (which officially kicks off Sept. 15), he performed a stripped-down version of “Summer Friends” with the Social Experiment’s Peter Cottontale and his future touring mate Francis and the Lights. Watch a clip of that rendition below.

Chance also sat down with anchor Robin Roberts to talk about his career so far, the importance of musical freedom and how his music is different. “I make rap music for everybody. I think there’s a lot of taboos in hip-hop that people try and stay away from,” he said. “I think a big one is: people are afraid to speak about God to a certain extent and I think if you’re not free to speak about God then you’re not free.” Watch a clip of the interview segment below, or the whole interview here.

Also in the interview, Chance discussed what it was like performing a Muhammad Ali tribute during the ESPYs as well as being included in President Obama’s Summer Playlist. Those clips are below too.
