Chicagoland employers have until Oct. 25 to submit employee information to Ventra for employees to be able to begin using the CTA's new fare payment system Nov. 1, the CTA said.
The CTA said it notified transit benefit administrators last week about the deadline to submit the information via spreadsheet to Ventra. CTA spokeswoman Lambrini Lukidis said this procedure is a one-time step.
"Previously employers used a CTA website and next month they’ll use a Ventra website," Lukidis said in an e-mail. "The information and format in which the benefit administrators need to provide for enrolled employees is virtually identical to what they’ve done in the past -- in other words, it’s the same thing they’ve done for years."
Transit benefit programs allow employees to purchase fare cards with pre-tax money.
Ventra replaces Chicago Cards on Nov. 15 and disposable cards on Dec. 15. Ventra became available to the public Sept. 9.
