A quick summary of the rules of Ultimate.

Ultimate traditionally is played with no referees, but officials were added at the professional level to prevent an extreme amount of discussion during the game.

If a ref gets a call wrong, a player can overrule the referee.

Game format: Four 12-minute quarters with a 15-minute halftime.

How to play: Teammates must pass the disc to one another down the field until they score in the opposing team’s end zone.

Players cannot run with the disc, and can only pivot one foot while holding the disc. They cannot hand the disc to another player.

A turnover is called if the disc is dropped or thrown out of bounds, or if there is a foul.

Teams in the American Ultimate Disc League typically score 40 goals between them.
