The Spike Lee movie was filmed in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood despite Mayor Emanuel’s objection to the film’s title of “Chi-Raq.”
The story, based on the ancient Greek play “Lysistrata,” centers on women going on a sex strike to promote peace and end violence.
A star-studded premiere of the movie was held at the Chicago Theatre, with Lee, John Cusack and Jennifer Hudson, but not all Chicagoans support the movie, with critics including Chance the Rapper and Rhymefest.
