Hillary Clinton’s running mate, Virginia senator Tim Kaine, has developed a reputation as an affable, if kind of nerdy, dad with his quirky sense of humor and the fact that he travels with “six harmonicas in [his] briefcase at all times.” Today, during an interview with “No Limit Larry & The Morning Maddhouse” on North Carolina’s Power 98 FM, Kaine more than lived up to his rep with a total groaner of a dad joke.

Here’s what happened. Right before the interview, the station played Chance the Rapper’s Lil Wayne and 2Chainz-assisted “Coloring Book” single “No Problem” (perhaps because fans were using rapperradio.com?), and the DJs name-dropped the track during Kaine’s intro. Then, Kaine responded with, “They call me Lil Kaine not Lil Wayne,” and I can’t decide if that’s cute or if I’m actually dying inside. Listen to the clip below.

If you’re curious, you can also check out the full interview at this link. This isn’t Kaine’s first foray into music on the campaign trail. The noted harmonica-enthusiast is also a fan of my favorite band the Replacements, specifically their album “Let It Be,” has also name-dropped Lucy Dacus, Alabama Shakes and David Bowie on the campaign trail.

PSA: If any members of Kaine’s team are reading this, I will send him CDs from other Chicago artists. I think he’d really like Whitney, Twin Peaks, Jamila Woods and Eryn Allen Kane.
