Real Name: René Valdiviezo, 27.
Neighborhoods: Loop
Experience: René started playing pop-punk and alternative as a teenager and became a rapper six years ago after getting into Kanye West during his time at Columbia College.
Sound: “A social style of hip-hop,” he says. “I’m not isolating fans from one region of the city or another. I might be the only ‘downtown’ rapper.”
Live show: “I don’t have a hypeman or do karaoke rap over a track. I’m singing, I’m rapping and doing my own hooks. I have played with a live drummer before too.”

Fun facts: “A lot of people in Chicago’s hip-hop scene know me by name. The ones that don’t, know my face.” Plus, Savemoney affiliate Towkio will appear on Gossip Structure’s forthcoming album.
