The clash of clerics in 15th century Rome heats up in “Day of Ashes,” the latest episode of Showtime’s “The Borgias” airing May 13. Pope Alexander VI searches for a way to silence Friar Savonarola, who has turned Florence against the de Medici banking family and against Rome.
Francois Arnaud, who stars as Alexander’s son, Cardinal Cesare Borgia, said of Steven Berkoff, who plays Savonarola: “I think he is an amazing performer. He’s just hypnotic, really.”
The Pope also hopes to deal with the fallout from Cesare’s murder of Giovanni Sforza by marrying off Lucrezia again. Check out the sneak peek videos and photos from the episode below, as well as more insight from Arnaud. New episodes of “The Borgias” air at 9 p.m. Sundays on Showtime.
