Meet RedEye Rock ‘n’ Vote 2015 finalist The Blind Staggers.
Neighborhoods: Old Irving Park, Portage Park, Des Plaines
Experience: Five years
Sound: “I like to say country punk, but really we’re just a rock band,” says singer-guitarist Damien Christian Wilburn, 35. “Most of our songs are about drinking too much and relationship problems and all the hangovers that come from both those things”
Live show: “It’s surprisingly energetic. For as much as we play bummer tunes, we are a live rock ’n’ roll band. It’s American music.”
Influences: “Lucero, Ryan Bingham, classic rock and anything blues rock-related is right up our alley.”
Upcoming performance: May 16 at Abbey Pub
Fun fact: “We’re almost all related. Tony, the guitarist, is my brother, his fiancé is singer Laura, and the bass player is her brother. Our drummer is the odd man out who we know from just jamming at parties.”
“Bulleit For The Road”
“Thorazine Shuffle”
