Production of the final season of “Strike Back” has been delayed at least six months after star Sullivan Stapleton suffered a serious injury off-set in Thailand.

Cinemax confirmed the news after Deadline broke the story Wednesday. The nature of the injury is being kept private.

Stapleton costars with Philip Winchester as two members of an elite military unit called Section 20. The adventure series had been filming its 10-episode fourth season in Bangkok when Stapleton hurt himself while exploring the city in his off time.

Ironically, Stapleton never has been hurt seriously while filming the physically challenging series, which taxes its stars with dangerous stunt work such as jumping from helicopters, trains or moving vehicles. Just listen to Stapleton describe a Season 3 stunt sequence in the video above.

“Stike Back” normally premieres in August, shortly after a July appearance at San Diego Comic Con. It’s unclear when the fourth season will premiere, a Cinemax source said.

Best wishes to Sully for a quick recovery.
