In case you were wondering, no, Andrew Shaw hasn’t changed much.

The former Blackhawks forward, now playing for the Montreal Canadiens, threw an epic tantrum in the penalty box Tuesday. He was called for a hooking penalty in the waning moments of the Canadiens’ 2-1 loss at Anaheim.

When he got to the box, he smashed his stick over the glass before snapping what was left of it over his knee. He finished off the tirade by letting a few F-bombs fly.

In Shaw’s defense, it looked like Anaheim’s Sami Vatanen embellished things a bit by holding on to Shaw’s stick, which might have been what caught the referee’s attention. Oh, Shaw also got a misconduct penalty for his outburst.

He can take some consolation in having scored his fifth goal of the season Tuesday.

Shaw, who was much more mellow when the Canadiens lost to the Hawks at the United Center earlier this month, was known to flip out on a referee or two when he was with Chicago. He also once dropped an F-bomb on national TV after the Hawks won a Stanley Cup Final game in 2013.

Of course, his scrappy play is generally more focused on legally making things difficult for the other team, which was why the Hawks had such a hard time letting him go after last season. He was a huge fan favorite as well, in part because of the raw emotion with which he plays.

BTW, the Hawks play in Montreal on March 14.
