As Wicker Park’s Double Door continues to face eviction from 1572 N. Milwaukee Ave., rumors are flying about what could possibly fill the music venue’s space. Speculation piqued earlier this week with a rumor that Shake Shack, a New York-born burger chain with three locations in the Chicagoland area, had eyes on the spot.
While Wicker Park could use another burger joint to keep Small Cheval and Umami Burger on their toes (psh, yeah right), we found out that Shake Shack isn’t planning to move into the space.
“We can confirm that this is just a rumor, there is no truth to the claim,” a Shake Shack spokeswoman said in an email.
We were so close to having those pillowy buns north of Chicago Avenue.
