If you’re late making plans, New Year’s Eve is kind of the worst. Especially in Chicago, parties tend to be too crowded, your friends want to go to some crap thing where the cover is more than $50, the lines to just get in are overwhelming and finding an Uber under 2.0x surge is out of the question. At RedEye, the staff knows that it’s tough to find the right thing to do, so that’s why this party exists.

Starting at 9 p.m., come to Lakeview’s historic Gman Tavern (yes, the bar from “Color of Money” that music reporter Josh Terry tweets about daily), where Chicago bands Ne-Hi, Homme and Oshwa (and more to be announced) will be doing DJ sets. Dancing and Jeppson’s Malört will be in abundance, and the best part is that the whole thing is free (not including whatever you buy at the bar, obviously). That’s right: free. Skip the lines and the bank account-sucking cover and come hang out. If you want to RSVP, here’s the link to the Facebook page.

Below, revisit Ne-Hi’s excellent single “Drag.” We’re not promising anything, but maybe the band will spin some cuts from its upcoming sophomore record.
