A South Side beach is closed to the public for a weekend music fest on the lakefront.

Mamby on the Beach is a new two-day music fest set for this Saturday and Sunday at Oakwood Beach located at Oakwood Boulevard and Lake Shore Drive. The festival for music fans 18 years and older will feature Empire of the Sun, Passion Pit, Phantogram and others performing in three areas on the beach: the main stage, the tent and the beach house.

The beach closed to the public on Monday and will reopen on July 14Tuesday, a spokeswoman for the Chicago Park District said. The bike path closest to Lake Shore Drive will remain open, according to Ald. Will Burns (4th).

The Chicago Park District is telling beach goers to use the 31st Street Beach or 57th Street Beach in the meantime.

VIP tickets to the festival provide access to Lake Michigan for swimming and to private bars and air conditioned trailer bathrooms.

No parking will be available because the nearby parking lot will be only accessible to the CTA buses, taxis and Uber cars to drop off concertgoers, according to the festival website. Free shuttles will be offered from the McCormick Place lot and the CTA’s Cermak-Chinatown Red Line station and Cermak-McCormick Place Green Line station.

The Mamby on the Beach music festival follows last month’s three-day country music fest Windy City LakeShake at Northerly Island and Mumford & Sons concert at Cricket Hill.
