In this Friday’s episode of “Hunted,” spy Sam Hunter is forced to explain her police record to Stephen Turner, the man with whom she is sleeping as her alias persona, as you can see in the Show Patrol TV exclusive sneak peek above.
It’s a bit ironic that Sam (Melissa George) accuses Stephen (Stephen Campbell Moore) of spying on her and not trusting her in the clip, since she’s the one spying on him. Sam is undercover, living with the Turner family as the nanny to Stephen’s son so that she can prevent his father, Jack (Patrick Malahide), a ruthless businessman, from purchasing the Khyber Dam in Pakistan.
Those issues of not being able to trust anyone and of lying all the time are why George doesn’t thinnk she could be a spy.
“I’m too high maintenance,” she told me at the beginning of the season. “I love being in love. I love being in a relationship and I love all those things that an agent just doesn’t pull together.”

It was written by series creator Frank Spotnitz and Amira El Nemr, and directed by Daniel Percival, the man responsible for setting the realistic tone of Cinemax’s “Strike Back” series. Now back to George, who fans might remember played the double agent Lauren Reed in “Alias” back in the day, and whether she could handle being a spy for real. (I’ve posted another sneak peek for the episode below.)
So you’re happy to be back in the spy game?
I am actually. Obviously when I did “Alias”–gosh, I’m so happy to have had that role, it was so fun. But now it’s a different kind of world and we’re years on and we have Sam Hunter. Yes, I’m very happy; it’s very exciting.
Do you see any similarities between Sam and Lauren Reed, your “Alias” character?
No. Lauren Reed had zero heart. Zero heart; I think she was just messed up girl.
Right.
No, I don’t see similarities. I see more of Laura from “In Treatment” [in Sam]. I thought she was very troubled woman who was very lonely. She was very guarded and didn’t trust anybody.
Sam can’t trust anyone. Do you think that you would have the strength to be able to be on your own like that?
No, I like being in a relationship too much. Although in a way it’s similar when I travel for filming. You come home alone, you wake alone; you’re alone. You have to set up a new house everywhere, like a spy.
Right.
You can pack up within 30 minutes or an hour sometimes to get on the plane. Being an actor is sometimes pretty close to being a spy I think.
Except nobody is trying to kill you.
Well, I think they are. [Laughs.] I think there are crazy people out there, right? Today in Paris this guy had a video camera [on me]. I’d seen him all day and I’m like, “How did he go from one area to another? Oh my God he’s filming me! Oh, how lovely.” So it’s like six hours he’s been filming me in different locations.
That’s kind of creepy.
Sometimes it’s very strange when people know you’re working and they want to film you, or find out where you live. It’s really strange, very strange.
