Humboldt Park has logged two homicides in the last week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.

On Wednesday, a man was fatally shot in the 3300 block of West Division Street, police said. Four days earlier, a 42-year-old man was shot to death in the 3600 block of West Chicago Avenue, according to officials.

Seven homicides have been logged so far this year in Humboldt Park. The West Side community area recorded 14 homicides last year, down from 18 killings in 2012, RedEye determined.

Citywide, gunshot homicides were logged in the last week in Austin, Englewood, Grand Boulevard, West Englewood and West Town, according to police information.

Meanwhile, a 28-year-old man was stabbed to death Friday in the 6000 block of South Sacramento Avenue in Chicago Lawn, police said.

June ended this week with 35 homicides, down from 44 killings in June 2013, according to RedEye data.

Two homicides have been logged so far this month. Fifty-three homicides were recorded in July 2013, RedEye found.
