The fifth and final season of Syfy’s longest running show, “Eureka,” begins at 8 p.m. April 16 with “Lost.”
I absolutely love what I’ve seen of the season so far. But the new episodes are so intricately plotted, I’ll spoil something if I write too much, so this will be brief.
The quirky town is reeling after the Astraeus and her crew vanished just before their planned launch to Titan. When they finally crash land, Allison (Chicago native Salli Richardson-Whitfield) and the crew—Grace (Tembi Locke), Fargo (Neil Grayston), Holly (Feicia Day) and Zane (Naill Matter)—find themselves back on Earth.
What seemed like minutes to them was actually four years, and wow, have things changed in Eureka, especially concerning Deputy Andy (Kavan Smith), Jo Lupo (Erica Cerra), Vincent (Chris Gauthier), Isaac Parrish (Wil Wheaton) and Sen. Alice Wen (Ming-Na).
Sheriff Carter (Colin Ferguson) and Henry (Joe Morton) work to uncover the truth about the crew’s disappearance, which leads to shock after twist after surprise.
“Eureka” is as amusing and delightful as ever, but the early episodes of this final season seem to have a darker edge to them. The stakes have never been higher and sadly—mini spoiler!—someone we’ve come to love will die.
Congrats and thank you to exec producer Jaime Paglia, the actors, writers, stunt guys, special effects folks and everyone else involved. You’re all at the top of your games. I’m going to miss this series.
