A play that showcases real-life CTA stories will celebrate its 100th consecutive Saturday show this weekend.
"El Stories," a reenactment of interviews with CTA riders, has been performed every Saturday at the Greenhouse Theater in Lincoln Park since March 2012, play spokesman J.D. Ostergaard said. The show was performed several times before then, but not with the consistency it sees now. There have been nearly 150 total performances of the play, which rotates stories every few months.
The last iteration, stories about the CTA Holiday Train, wrapped up last week. This week's performance will include costumed CTA riders.
The show has sold out at least eight times with 65 audience members, Ostergaard said. He anticipates a large audience Saturay because cast alumni have been invited for the anniversary.
"We're expecting a pretty close to full house for this week," Ostergaard said.
The play runs at 11 p.m., Saturdays at the Greenhouse Theater, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. Tickets are $15 at greenhousetheater.org.
