BBC America has released a new trailer for Matt Smith’s final episode as the 11th Doctor Who, “The Time of the Doctor.”

“Now it’s time for one last bow, like all your other selves,” says Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman), the Doctor’s current companion. “Eleven’s hour is over now, the clock is striking Twelve’s.”

The clip shows many of the Doctor’s enemies, including Daleks, Cybermen and the Silence, as they align against him.

“The siege of Trenzalore is now begun,” Orla Brady’s mysterious Tasha Lem says to the soldiers surrounding her. “The Time Lord has entered the trap.”

In the episode, the Doctor is drawn back to Trenzalore, the planet where he is—or will be—buried. The video suggests a fateful battle between the Doctor and his enemies. “If you want my life, come and get it,” he yells defiantly.

Clara is shown pleading with someone to help the Doctor “change the future.” Or maybe she’s pleading with the Doctor himself? You never know with “Doctor Who.”

We do know that by episode’s end, Matt Smith will be out and Peter Capaldi with be in as Doctor No. 12.

The Christmas special airs at 8 p.m. Dec. 25 on BBC America. Here’s the offical synopsis:

Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe’s deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars. And amongst them – the Doctor. Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe.
