Someone rode on top of a Red Line train tonight, but when the train arrived at the Belmont stop, the person disappeared, the CTA said.
At about 5:45 p.m., CTA personnel responded to a report that a person was on top of the last car of a northbound Red Line train, CTA spokesman Brian Steele said.
A rider had shown a picture of a person on top of the train to a CTA supervisor but agency workers couldn’t find anyone when they went to investigate while the train was stopped at the Belmont station.
Steele said the CTA will review security camera footage at the station and try to identify the person. It’s unknown whether the person is a male or female, Steele said. The person could face a misdemeanor charge.
“It is extremely dangerous to be outside of a rail car, especially on top of a rail car,” Steele said. “This individual exhibited extremely foolish judgment and behavior, and we will be looking to identify the individual.”
