The CTA is looking for artists to create work for seven North Side Red Line stations currently undergoing overhaul.

The CTA said today it issued a request for proposals for local, national and international artists to submit their qualifications to the CTA. Application information is at http://www.transitchicago.com.

The CTA said it has has more than 50 art pieces at 41 stations along the Pink, Red and Brown Lines.

Submissions must be delivered no later than 3:30 p.m., Oct. 10, to CTA Headquarters, 567 W. Lake St. The CTA has been rehabbing Northern Red Line stations for the past few months. Each of the seven stations has closed for six weeks for repairs.

An evaluation committee will select approximately 25 artists based on artistic merit, qualifications and professional recognition of the artists, and artists’ written statements of interest. Seven of the selected artists will be offered a commission.

The CTA is holding two community meetings about the project: 6:30 p.m., Sept. 18, at the Broadway Armory, 5917 N. Broadway; and 7 p.m., Sept. 20, at United Church of Rogers Park, 1545 W. Morse Ave.
