In NBC’s “Chicago P.D.,” Sgt. Hank Voight didn’t recruit just any cops to be part of his squad based out of the Chicago Police Department’s District 21.
“This is Intelligence,” Voight says, “my unit.”
The show’s focus on the Intelligence Unit got me thinking: Just how smart do you have to be to join the unit? So during a December visit to the show’s set at Cinespace Chicago Studios on the Southwest Side, I decided to test the brain power of cast members Jason Beghe, who plays Voight, as well as Sophia Bush, Jon Seda, Jesse Lee Soffer and Harvey native LaRoyce Hawkins.
I found a question appropriate for the cop drama from an online I.Q. test:
Assuming this statement is true–If Jodi doesn’t pay her ticket she will go to jail—which other statement must be true?
If Jodi pays her ticket she won’t go to jail.
If Jodi goes to jail she didn’t pay her ticket.
If Jodi doesn’t go to jail she paid her ticket.
As you can see in the video above, the “Chicago Fire” spinoff employs a smart group of actors. Well, at least they’re funny.

The Jan. 8 series premiere of “Chicago P.D.” drew 8.6 million viewers according to Nielsen fast national ratings. It airs at 9 p.m. Wednesdays on NBC.
