Driving in fire trucks might be old hat by now for cast members of NBC’s “Chicago Fire,” but riding to Tuesday’s premiere at the Chicago History Museum in engines was still special.
“That was great; it won’t get any better than that,” Chicago actor Christian Stolte said, adding that normally they’re “not dressed like this. It’s usually bunker gear.”
NBC invited about 350 former and current local firefighters and their families to the screening and party, which also was attended by Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who makes a cameo in the Oct. 10 premiere of the series from producer Dick Wolf. On behalf of the mayor, Chicago Fire Department Commissioner Jose Santiago presented Wolf with a proclamation thanking the production for focusing on the CFD. The show has been filming at Cinespace Chicago Film Studios on the West Side and various locations around the city for months.
