A day before the election, Chance the Rapper is prepared to get Chicago out to perform its civic duty with his “Parade to the Polls,” featuring a live free and open-to-the-public concert and a march to voting booths.

The event was originally scheduled to be held at the Virgin Hotel Chicago’s rooftop at 3 p.m. Monday, but the 23-year-old artist and activist announced on “Windy City Live” that because of capacity concerns, he has moved the event to Grant Park’s Petrillo Music Shell (235 S. Columbus Drive). It still starts at 3 p.m. and will feature the same performers, such as Twin Peaks, Chance’s brother Taylor Bennett, local rapper Malcolm London, DJ Oddcouple and several special guests, which I’m told will include a former RedEye cover star I can’t yet reveal.

At 5 p.m., once the music stops, Chance will lead a “parade” of early voters to the Loop’s early voting “super site” at 15 W. Washington St. Equipped with 100 touch-screen booths, it’ll hopefully be enough to handle the massive crowds sure to be there.

The event is hosted by SocialWorks, the nonprofit Chance co-founded in September with Essence Smith and Justin Cunningham.
