If you take great pride in being a Slytherin or Hufflepuff, you’ll be pleased to know you have an American house waiting for you at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Similar to Hogwarts, students are sorted into four different houses. Though there are some parallels to the Hogwarts houses you know and love, there is no direct correlation. Let’s break down what we know about these houses and the beasts they are named after.

Thunderbird

Named by: Chadwick Boot
House represents: The soul
House favors: Adventurers
Beast breakdown: A bird-like beast that’s related to the phoenix. Can sense danger and create storms as it flies.

Horned Serpent

House favors: Scholars
Beast breakdown: A great horned river serpent with a jewel on its forehead and long teeth.

Pukwudgie

Named by: James Steward

Wampus

Now that you know what house you’d like to be in, venture over to Pottermore.com and take their sorting quiz to make it official.
