Aug. 12, NBC The pilot for this new sitcom wasn't as funny as I had hoped, but that doesn't mean it won't get better. Justin Kirk plays Dr. George Coleman, a vet who likes his patients more than their owners. (Think of him as a Dr. House in that respect.) Crystal the Monkey also stars, and was used just the right amount in the pilot, I thought. This special preview will air after the closing ceremonies of the Olympics. The show will have its time period premiere at 7 p.m. Sept. 26.

Aug. 8, NBC NBC is showing a sneak preview of this fall comedy after Olympics coverage and before the official time period premiere at 8 p.m. Sept. 11. Matthew Perry plays sportscaster Ryan King, who is made to attend group therapy after the death of his wife. Needless to say, he's not interested, especially after meeting the misfits in the group played by Allison Miller, Khary Payton, Suzy Nakamura, Julie White and sure-to-be-fan-fave Bret Gilman. Laura Benanti plays the therapist, Lauren. I've seen the pilot, and although I felt it was a bit manipulative, I found myself laughing at the group's antics.

9 p.m. Aug. 13, NBC Portland homicide Det. Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) faces even more deadly creatures now that more supernatural beasties have figured out he's a member of the monster-fighting Grimm family. Worse than that, he's going to have to work with his mother (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio).
