Archbishop Francis E. George and U.S. Judge Ruben Castillo will speak at “First Monday in October,” a celebration of law as a force for social justice and civil liberty, Monday at the Chicago Cultural Center.

The annual program will focus on 1996 laws that restrict immigrants’ access to courts. Margaret H. McCormick, national president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, will be the moderator.

The program, which includes a wine-and-cheese reception and screening of the video “With Liberty and Justice for All?” is open to the public.
